Animals Need Massages Too!

Not only does Chiron Massage & Reiki relieve stress, stiffness, and pain in people, but also helps relieve these ailments in all animals; everything from domestic pets to exotic wonders. Per Wisconsin State law, animal massage can ONLY be performed under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian!  Chiron Massage & Reiki is licensed and insured to work on animals.  Have your veterinarian contact us today for an appointment. Available for farm calls and/or clinic appointments for domestic animals in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois by appointment only. Available for consults and treatments for all zoos, animal preserves, animal sanctuaries, and aquariums nationwide.

Whether it's performance horses who need sports massage to stay at the top of their sport, dogs needing rehabilitation after a hip surgery, geriatric animals who are having difficulty moving around, or work animals that put in a hard day's work. Large or small, domestic or exotic, we can help!

Owner and practitioner Thereasa Wirkus has had almost 20 years’ experience working with many types of exotic animals as well as equines. Having firsthand experience caring for these animals provides her a better understanding of their anatomy and behavior. This knowledge, as well as the knowledge of how to recognize and handle sick, sore and/or stressed animals, allows her to more effectively work on your animal.

Uniquely to Chiron Massage & Reiki, our animal massages are not limited to just rehabilitation and sports massages.  Under veterinary supervision, Chiron Massage & Reiki also offers warm bamboo and hot stone massage to animals as well.  Under the supervision of Thereasa's personal equine veterinarian, she performed warm bamboo massages on her up and coming performance mare, and hot stone massages on her geriatric mare and her rescued gelding, all with amazing results.  The bamboo massage relieved large myofascial trigger points in the long head triceps brachii and the trapezius thoracis, correcting a lameness issue.  The hot stone massages decreased muscle tension in her gelding, as well as decreased stiffness from arthritis in her geriatric mare.  Both warm bamboo and hot stone massages are available as an "add on" to any animal massage session, but are limited to specific cases (i.e. geriatric animals, extremely "tight" animals, etc.) and veterinary recommendation.

Also available for animals are reiki and Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA). A veterinarian does NOT need to be present for these two services. Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that helps reduce stress and anxiety. Animals react very well to this treatment and it is ideal for nervous or high anxiety animals.

The Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis is an analytical test that assays the mineral composition of the hair in dogs, horses, and people. This test is performed by the laboratory of Trace Elements, Inc. It is a screening test in the preventative healthcare field, and should NOT be treated as a diagnosis! It is to be used as a screening aid for mineral deficiencies, excesses, and/or biochemical imbalances. It provides veterinarians, trainers, caregivers, and owners with a sensitive indicator of the long-term effects of diet, stress, and toxic exposure. Most deficiencies in animals are brought about by altered relationships of minerals within the body. It may be helpful to determine which supplements and feeds are required and more importantly, what is not required to avoid nutritionally-induced deficiencies or imbalances. The canine and equine assays test 32 nutritional and toxic elements, metabolic type, endocrine and performance indexes.

Animal Reiki

Reiki is a simple, yet powerful, healing energy modality that is effective in helping animals feel their best. A reiki treatment puts your pet in a deep relaxed space as it gently releases energetic blockages and imbalances which promotes healing, balance, joy and happiness. Animals, especially felines, love receiving reiki because they intuitively recognize and respond to it.
